Overview: The primary responsibility of the Terminal Operations Manager is to oversee the terminal network across North America for Graymont. This includes managing both Graymont-owned terminals and third-party transloading facilities. The role is pivotal in collaborating with various departments such as Logistics, Operations, Marketing, and Sales to establish the logistics framework necessary for executing Graymont's business strategy.

This position will spearhead the design and execution of supply chain enhancement initiatives and ongoing improvement projects. It is essential to develop suitable systems and processes aimed at maximizing operational efficiency, automation, and cost reduction. All efforts will be made while upholding the highest standards of service, safety, and quality at each terminal, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations aligned with Graymont's strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance at terminal and transload sites, promoting a culture of safety through exemplary leadership.
  • Collaborate with sales, logistics, and business development teams to assess and enhance the terminal network, adapting to market demands and optimizing delivery costs and service quality.
  • Manage terminal expense budgets, including monthly variance reports and forecasts.
  • Oversee capital projects related to the distribution terminal network and assist with logistics enhancements for plant projects.
  • Provide support for product transloading, material handling, and track design as needed.
  • Enhance logistics operations, initiate performance improvement projects, and generate performance reports with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee the full lifecycle management of multiple North American distribution terminals and transload facilities, including budgeting and operational setup.
  • Develop and communicate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Negotiate and manage third-party operating agreements and property agreements in collaboration with the logistics and customer service teams.
  • Implement effective inventory management strategies to mitigate customer service risks and ensure accurate inventory documentation.
  • Create purchase orders in alignment with the Procure to Pay (P2P) process.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and projects as required.
  • Identify and implement automation solutions to enhance equipment and resource utilization, loading efficiency, and inventory accuracy.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; relevant experience in cement/lime/dry bulk distribution may substitute for an Associate's degree.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in operations or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of lime/cement/dry bulk distribution and familiarity with bulk material discharge and shipping functions.
  • Experience in developing new business opportunities with railroads.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to foster collaborative relationships across various functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs and familiarity with automation solutions; JDE experience is a plus.
  • A commitment to workplace safety.
  • A drive to overcome challenges and focus on value-added priorities.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
