Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Documentation:

Ensure accurate patient identification and obtain necessary consent prior to procedures. Document the patient's prenatal history, medications, and allergies, and maintain thorough records in the patient's chart during and after the ultrasound. Keep a detailed procedure log as required.

Ultrasound Room Maintenance:

Clean and disinfect exam room surfaces, including the examination bed, between patients. Sterilize ultrasound probes and clearly indicate their cleanliness with appropriate labeling. Ensure that fresh linens and necessary supplies are ready for the next patient, and maintain a tidy environment.

Interpersonal Skills:

Maintain a positive attitude consistent with the "Team Spirit" philosophy. Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and objective in high-pressure situations. Build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with team members. Exhibit flexibility to meet departmental needs and goals while employing excellent customer service skills.

Equipment Operation and Image Acquisition:

Safely operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images according to established protocols. Critically assess image quality and determine if retakes are necessary.

Patient Care Practices:

Confirm patient identity before the ultrasound procedure. Clearly explain the ultrasound process and provide post-procedure instructions. Create a welcoming atmosphere to foster patient cooperation and confidence while ensuring the use of sterile equipment.

Human Experience:

Build trust with patients through effective communication and competence. Innovate to enhance the experience for both patients and colleagues. Engage with patients to keep them informed about their visit and model service standards through consistent, positive interactions. Recognize and appreciate the unique qualities of both team members and patients to cultivate an inclusive environment. Simplify complex processes for patients and ensure understanding through clear communication.

Qualifications:

Credentials: Essential: Fetal Echocardiography Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Education: Essential: High School Diploma; 2-Year/Associate Degree Required from an accredited ultrasound technology program; ARDMS certification is mandatory.

Experience: 1 Year of OB experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: RDMS, OB Required; NT Certification Preferred.

Additional Skills/Requirements:

Must achieve NT certification within the first year of employment and maintain current BLS certification. Must retain ARDMS certification and possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with various ultrasound devices is essential, along with the ability to independently obtain high-quality images to assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians in diagnosis.
