Job Description

The key responsibilities for a Construction Estimator include:

  • Reviewing specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Participating in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy, and marketing presentations as requested.
  • Preparing estimates by calculating complete takeoff of certain sections and reviewing vendor quotations.
  • Reviewing and incorporating historical data from prior projects as required.
  • Interfacing with the Owner, A/E, and/or subcontractors to provide accurate cost estimates.
  • Preparing conceptual estimates as needed by our clients.
  • Participating in plan review and estimating reviews for prospective projects.
  • Understanding construction specifications and blueprint reading.
  • Responsible for soliciting subcontractors/suppliers to ensure proper coverage.
  • Utilizing and completing the subcontractor pre-qualification.
  • Identifying and distributing documents to interested bidders.

Leadership during the design process through a design-assist process, value engineering opportunities, alternates, and material replacements, new techniques/ideas/products, and subcontractor relationships.

Lead efforts to secure long lead subcontractors and materials.

Work with Cities and Municipalities to identify and procure required permits.

Requirements

The successful candidate for a Construction Estimator has:

  • BA/BS degree in construction management, engineering, or 5+ years of experience in the estimating or project management field.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Ground up project knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Sage, MS Project.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interest in mentorship opportunity.
  • Quantity takeoff and cost estimate experience.

Base salary ranging from $120,000 - $140,000 depending on experience.
