Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Interventional Rad Technologist to join our team at Rhode Island Hospital. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging department, you will be responsible for performing vascular and interventional exams, ensuring the functional integrity of equipment, and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to aseptic cleaning techniques as necessary.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are properly supplied and equipped before each examination.
  • Assist with TSPER Patient Verification and Universal Protocol.
  • Instruct patients on procedures to obtain desired results and alleviate fears.
  • Position and perform aseptic surgical preparation for ordered procedures.
  • Assist radiologists in diagnosing diseases and carrying out interventional and angiographic procedures.
  • Operate biplane and single-plane digital fluoroscopic equipment, processing and labeling digital subtraction runs as needed.
  • Call service for equipment problems and log data when required.
  • Archive images necessary for diagnosis and procedure documentation in PACs.
  • Record and complete records pertinent to procedures performed, ensuring proper charge codes are utilized.
  • Input required case information in LifeChart PACs and Hi-IQ.
  • Adjust immobilization devices, assemble equipment and supplies as required, and position and operate equipment for required length and intensity of exposure.
  • Assist in monitoring the physiologic status of patients during tests and procedures, informing physicians and/or nursing staff of pertinent changes in condition.
Requirements
  • Two years of formal training in an approved School of radiological technology, plus registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current/valid license from the Department of Health to practice in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Must hold a current CPR certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • Must take advanced registry test in Cardiovascular/Interventional Technology given by the American Registry of radiologic Technologists within three (3) years of placement in Vascular/Interventional section of Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Must have the interpersonal skills necessary to interface effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members.
  • Must have the analytical ability to calculate and select the proper technical factors to provide acceptable radiographs and to simultaneously operate a variety of equipment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Exposure to blood and various bodily fluids is minimal when established safety procedures are followed. Works in an area with little discomfort due to noise, dust, or heat. Exposed to radiation, but hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety precautions. Must have the physical dexterity and strength to position patients and operate equipment.
