Job Summary:
Position Title: Wine and Spirits Cashier
FLSA Status: Hourly
Reports To: Wine and Spirits Department Manager
The Wine and Spirits Cashier is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and collaborating with all Wine and Spirits team members to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. This role focuses on achieving departmental goals while meeting the needs of associates and guests alike.
As a Wine & Spirits Associate, you will have the opportunity to enhance the guest experience by offering expert recommendations on the finest Wine & Spirits products for any occasion, from perfect wine pairings to local craft beer selections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all departmental standards are upheld within the Wine and Spirits section.
- Monitor sales floor and back stock conditions, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure accurate pricing for products.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, the Wine and Spirits Manager, and team members to uphold standards and exceed guest expectations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests.
- Assist guests in locating items on the sales floor.
- Stay informed about all promotions and advertisements.
- Process transactions accurately and maintain cash and media at the registers.
- Handle special requests and orders.
- Answer phone calls and assist callers with proper etiquette.
- Address guest concerns and resolve issues when necessary.
- Checkout customer purchases efficiently.
- Maintain a tidy register area and ensure supplies are stocked.
- Support and execute superior customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular, timely attendance in accordance with the work schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness of the department by organizing and cleaning work areas.
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- Must be at least 21 years old to sample products in the Wine and Spirits department.
- Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with customers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of safety requirements and company policies.
- Ability to recognize and respond to potential safety hazards.
- Must be over the age of 18.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and bend or kneel regularly.
- Requires manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment.
- Occasional lifting of stock up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to varying temperatures in the work environment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is hourly and may require availability during mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
