Position Overview:

We are seeking a Java Microservices Developer to join our dynamic Futures Clearing Technology group. This fast-paced environment focuses on low latency, high-performance processing of futures trades, facilitating global connectivity with various clearinghouses. The team is dedicated to revolutionizing the clearing business for Exchange Traded Derivatives by enhancing risk management, streamlining trade processing through automation, and transitioning to a cloud-native containerized architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver projects aligned with the FCX work portfolio in an Agile framework.
  • Collaborate with users, stakeholders, business analysts, and product managers to comprehend functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Partner with technology and business teams to design and implement solutions that adhere to LTI standards, optimizing client experience and competitive advantage through cutting-edge technology.
  • Design, develop, and test resilient, stateless, scalable, and reusable services and APIs using the latest frameworks and libraries.
  • Create reusable software components within a microservices cloud-native architecture.
  • Develop high-performing Angular interfaces utilizing the latest in-house frameworks, emphasizing design patterns, reusability, code quality, and secure coding practices.
  • Engage in daily Scrum ceremonies and conduct sprint demonstrations for stakeholders.
  • Implement automated build, test, and deployment pipelines using the latest DevOps tools available at LTI.
  • Collaborate with QA engineers to develop test cases and support teams in formally handing over software releases to production.
  • Participate in weekly rotational support for the clearing platform.
  • Proactively manage relevant application documentation using Confluence, JIRA, and SharePoint.
  • Mentor junior team members, establish standards, share best practices, and challenge the status quo.
  • Evaluate software and vendors, conducting proof-of-concept development with emerging technologies.
  • Research and understand front-end development and DevOps best practices based on industry and LTI standards.
  • Collaborate with other development teams to build reusable libraries and components.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by applying lessons learned from past projects to future initiatives.
  • Manage application health by reviewing technical debt, operational risks, and vulnerabilities.
  • Assess risks in business decisions, safeguarding the firm's reputation and protecting LTI group, its clients, and assets.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong technical background with experience in the Software Development Lifecycle and stakeholder management in a global, dynamic environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing cloud-native applications with a microservices architecture on Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms.
  • Over 10 years of application development experience using Java, SQL, and at least one messaging platform (MQ/TIBCO/Kafka/Solace).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in developing web applications using JavaScript, Angular, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with messaging software (MQ, Tibco, Apache Kafka, or Solace) and any RDBMS.
  • Knowledge of API development and application security best practices (Oauth, TLS, PKI, etc.).
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment, with a focus on mentoring junior developers.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated professional capable of adapting to changing requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for exploring emerging technologies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across a complex organization.
  • Experience in the financial services domain, particularly in Trade Processing or Middle Office applications.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Distributed Cache (Redis, Gemfire, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Python and AI/ML/NLP concepts.
  • Understanding of Listed Derivatives, especially futures contracts and clearing workflows.
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol and experience in developing low latency, high volume applications.
