Job Overview

The Catholic Bishop of Northern Alaska seeks a highly skilled and experienced financial professional to serve as the Chief Financial Officer. This critical role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the diocese's financial operations, ensuring effective management of resources, and providing strategic guidance to achieve long-term financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans, policies, and procedures to align with the diocese's mission and goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage investments, cash flow, and risk management strategies to maximize returns and minimize losses.
  • Lead the accounting team in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to inform decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and drive business growth.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including clergy, lay leaders, and external partners, to ensure effective communication and alignment on financial matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in senior financial roles, preferably in non-profit or religious organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
