As a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel with the City of Amarillo, you will play a pivotal role in providing top-notch legal counsel to the city under the guidance of the City Attorney and Deputy City Attorney. With an estimated salary of $81,760, this position requires a strong background in District Court trials and Appellate courts.

About the Role

This is a dynamic role that demands adaptability, responsiveness, and exceptional communication skills. You will be responsible for representing the city in court proceedings, conducting research, preparing motions and briefs, and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Represent the City of Amarillo in both court and administrative proceedings
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current procedural and evidentiary requirements
  • Stay abreast of general knowledge on duties and responsibilities of client departments
  • Treat clients and citizens with respect and dignity
  • Provide legal services on weekends and evenings as needed by the Police Department, Emergency Management, Risk Management, or other departments

The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be proficient in computer applications, and have experience working in a dynamic environment. A Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited school of law and licensure to practice law in Texas are essential requirements.
