Position: Automation Controls Engineer

A prominent specialty manufacturer is in search of an Automation Controls Engineer to spearhead the design, modernization, and oversight of control systems for specialized manufacturing machinery. In this role, the emphasis will be on crafting and executing innovative automation solutions aimed at enhancing performance and operational efficiency. Key Qualifications:

  1. Expertise in PLCs, programming, troubleshooting, and a solid understanding of automation methodologies is essential.
  2. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with a focus on Instrumentation & Control systems), or equivalent certification and relevant field experience is mandatory.
  3. Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell RSLogix5000 is advantageous.
  4. Experience with HMI systems such as WinCC, Wonderware InTouch, or FactoryTalk is preferred.
  5. Ability to apply engineering principles to address design challenges is crucial.
  6. Capacity to work autonomously with minimal oversight is required.
  7. Willingness to travel for project-related support is expected.
  8. Strong communication and documentation skills are necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement PLC-based automation control systems, integrating motion control, sensors, VFD drives, and actuators.
  2. Provide ongoing support for existing systems, ensuring troubleshooting and smooth operation.
  3. Program Level 1 control systems based on functional descriptions and layouts.
  4. Collaborate with project teams, internal specialists, and clients to devise solutions for technical challenges.
  5. Conduct thorough testing and simulation of systems prior to deployment.
  6. Execute on-site commissioning and training sessions as needed.
