Position: Production Support Engineer

Location: Plano, Texas, United States

Overview:

As a Production Support Engineer, you will engage with various stakeholders across the organization to address intricate technical needs. Your role will involve managing several projects, prioritizing and resolving complex issues, and escalating when necessary, all within a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver production support for applications and platforms built on Hadoop, ensuring optimal availability, performance, and dependability.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues associated with data ingestion, processing, and storage within Hadoop clusters.
  • Oversee system performance, conduct root cause analyses, and implement preventive measures to mitigate potential issues.
  • Create and sustain Unix shell scripts for automation and monitoring purposes.
  • Develop and refine SQL queries for data analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting tasks.
  • Collaborate with development teams to roll out new code, execute upgrades, and implement enhancements within the Hadoop ecosystem.
  • Contribute to Spark development and optimization to facilitate data processing and analytics workloads.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of Hadoop solutions with existing systems and applications.

Qualifications:

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in production support roles, particularly with Hadoop and associated technologies.
  • Proficient in Unix/Linux environments and Bash scripting for automation and monitoring tasks.
  • Strong SQL capabilities for data querying, analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Spark development, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with Java and Python programming languages is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a focus on customer service and support delivery.
