Position Overview

As a Meat and Seafood Specialist at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will play a vital role in one of our most frequented departments. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to safe food handling practices and demonstrating extensive product knowledge and preparation techniques.

This hands-on role involves receiving, storing, and processing various meats; unloading and transporting fresh, cured, and packaged meats and poultry from delivery trucks; counting and weighing incoming products and verifying them against invoices; and inspecting stored meats while ensuring proper rotation to prevent spoilage.

The Meat and Seafood Specialist is dedicated to providing prompt and friendly service, assisting customers with inquiries and special requests, all while fostering a positive, customer-centric work environment. You will be knowledgeable about weekly promotions, guide customers to product locations throughout the store, and actively participate in our Clean as You Go and Fresh at 4 Programs.

This position requires strict adherence to all procedural guidelines established by the Meat and Seafood Department.

Qualifications

To excel as a Meat and Seafood Specialist at Sprouts Farmers Market, you should:

  • Be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a basic understanding of mathematics, weights, and measures.
  • Exhibit dependability and reliability while performing additional related tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrate an outgoing and friendly demeanor, maintaining a positive attitude and effectively interacting with customers.
  • Be flexible with your schedule, accommodating changes in business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to take direction while contributing to a team environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the department by regularly sanitizing work areas, including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers.
  • Comply with all safety, health, weights, and measures regulations, as well as company recipes.
  • Be capable of standing for extended periods, with the ability to walk up to 2 miles during an 8-hour shift.
  • Work effectively in a temperature-controlled environment and uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Have good vision for using sharp tools, including knives, band saws, grinders, and wrapping machines.
  • Lift and carry products weighing between 25 to 90 lbs. and move pallets and racks of products as required.
