Position Overview:

The role of the Pharmacist is pivotal in ensuring the safe, effective, and timely provision of medication therapy. Through various responsibilities within the pharmacy department, pharmacists support medication-use systems and deliver optimal pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients with diverse medical complexities and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care throughout the hospital.
  • Collaborate with medical and nursing teams to make informed decisions regarding medication use for individual patients, including non-drug therapies, medication selection, dosages, and administration methods.
  • Maintain comprehensive medication profiles for each patient, reviewing and screening for potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
  • Interpret pediatric medication orders accurately, calculate dosages, and prepare both sterile and non-sterile compounded medications.
  • Monitor medication therapy and resolve any queries regarding orders or patient status with prescribers promptly.
  • Engage in the management of medical emergencies and document interventions and consultations.
  • Participate in pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing and inventory management.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to drug therapy and patient safety.
  • Oversee pharmacy operations and assist in the training and development of pharmacy staff and students.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Missouri.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pharmacist experience or 2 years of experience within the Ranken Jordan Pharmacy.
  • Preferred: Experience in pediatric healthcare and hospital settings.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves various physical activities, including walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting light loads (up to 35 lbs) as necessary.
