Job Description:
Purpose of Position:
The Charge Nurse - LPN - Nights role is responsible for assessing patient health needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Description of Required Duties and Tasks:
- Receive delegated orders from the Director of Nursing and ensure their execution by staff members.
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day functions of medication nurses and/or nursing aides.
- Oversee all resident/patient treatments.
- Maintain accurate intake and output records.
- Assist physicians and the Director of Nursing in patient treatment and examination.
- Perform administrative duties such as documenting nurses' notes, physicians' orders, discharge plans, dietary changes, reports, evaluations, and studies.
- Recognize and respond to changes in patients' conditions, documenting observations, interventions, and outcomes.
- Order medications from the pharmacy, prepare, and administer them as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and record follow-through on telephone orders from physicians.
- Conduct and monitor prescribed treatments, such as dressing changes, blood draws, catheter changes, NG tube insertion and removal, laboratory work, etc.
- Provide and receive condition reports from on-coming and off-going shifts.
- Perform emergency procedures like cardiopulmonary resuscitation and notify family and relevant parties in case of death.
- Recognize, intervene, and report accidents and incidents when they occur.
- Update care plans each shift as necessary.
- Recognize, intervene, and report complaints and grievances from patients, families, visitors, and facility personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient, employee, and facility information.
- Foster an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in patients' personal and healthcare needs.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
