Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in a Clinic setting. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Ultrasound Equipment: Competently operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and/or cardiac procedures/studies, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.
- Review Patient Records: Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, to ensure exam accuracy.
- Position Patients: Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, ensuring safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients.
- Analyze Sonograms: Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
- Maintain Records: Maintain accurate records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
- Licensure and Certification: Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months, unless department leader has determined it is not required.
- Education: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Knowledge and Skills: Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department, ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings, knowledge of aseptic techniques, and ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday, lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Environmental Factors: May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
