Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities. As a certified Special Education Teacher, you will work under the direction of the Building Principal and Director of Special Education to develop and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.
  • Assess Student Progress: Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Employ Effective Teaching Techniques: Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
  • Coordinate Special Education Services: Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
  • Provide Individualized Instruction: Create a positive learning experience with emphasis on individualized instruction.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective implementation of IEPs.
  • Communicate with Parents: Serve as primary contact for parents and communicate effectively with them regarding student progress.
  • Conduct Special Education Evaluations: Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations as required.
  • Supervise Educational Assistants: Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of educational assistants as directed.
  • Comply with Regulations: Comply with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.
  • Complete Reporting Requirements: Complete all district and state reporting requirements.
Requirements
  • Special Education Credential: MUST POSSESS A VALID SPECIAL EDUCATION CREDENTIAL FOR THE STATE. EC Licensure (For Self Contained caseload the adapted curriculum is required).
  • Education and Experience: Education and experience as required by state authorities.
  • Ability to Work Under Stress: Ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students.
  • Physical Demands: Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
  • Classroom Environment: Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions.
  • Local Travel: Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required.
  • Office Equipment: Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
