Work Schedule:
Five 8-hour shifts per week, rotating every third week. Monday through Friday, 11 PM to 7 AM.

Location:

Birmingham, AL. The Post-Surgical unit comprises 32 beds dedicated to patients recovering from various general surgical procedures.

These procedures include thoracotomy, colon surgery, mastectomy, genitourinary surgery, plastic/reconstructive surgery, and bariatric surgery.

This dynamic unit offers numerous opportunities for enhancing and honing nursing skills, including IV insertion, Foley catheter placement, patient education, and critical assessment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care in line with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Develop and oversee patient care plans.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions as necessary.
- Act as the primary coordinator for all disciplines involved in patient care.
- Execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Qualifications:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer required. Accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing required prior to hire or job transfer.


Education:
- Diploma from an accredited nursing school or required professional licensure at the time of hire.
