Birmingham, AL. The Post-Surgical unit comprises 32 beds dedicated to patients recovering from various general surgical procedures.
These procedures include thoracotomy, colon surgery, mastectomy, genitourinary surgery, plastic/reconstructive surgery, and bariatric surgery.This dynamic unit offers numerous opportunities for enhancing and honing nursing skills, including IV insertion, Foley catheter placement, patient education, and critical assessment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care in line with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Develop and oversee patient care plans.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions as necessary.
- Act as the primary coordinator for all disciplines involved in patient care.
- Execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
Qualifications:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer required. Accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing required prior to hire or job transfer.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited nursing school or required professional licensure at the time of hire.
