Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Truck Technician to join our team at TEC Equipment, Inc. As a Heavy Duty Truck Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicles to proper operating condition
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance services, including identifying worn and damaged parts and repairing or replacing as needed
  • Troubleshoot with diagnostic software, including charging systems, brakes, suspensions, and A/C systems
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
  • Ability to meet shop quality and efficiency standards
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements, including testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards, and follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
  • Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
  • Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-6 years of practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes
  • Able to perform preventative maintenance services, such as oil & transmission changes, replacement of light body components and lights & sensors, etc.
  • Proficient in the repair and diagnosis of diesel engines, interior & exterior cab components, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes
  • Proficient in the use of all tools of trade
  • Basic computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software
  • Ability to provide a detailed written analysis and computer input of the three C's (complaint, cause, correction) as well as details on any repairs
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner
  • Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required
