Bookkeeper Job Description

Vaco is seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team and help manage our financial records with accuracy and efficiency.

Job Summary:

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and record day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including the preparation of invoices, payment of bills, and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and categorized.
  • Prepare and process payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and issuing paychecks.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for management review.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation as requested.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal staff to resolve any financial discrepancies or issues.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
