Job Description

A Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for assuring proper disinfection, sanitation, sterilization, and packaging of sterile instruments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Disassembling, cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, instruments, equipment, and supplies according to prescribed procedures
  • Working with departments in the hospital and clinic to complete requests to dispense equipment, supplies, and monitoring department inventory
  • Meeting standards of reprocessing initiatives within the organization
  • Assisting team members on cleaning and turnover of OR room
  • Assisting other members of the OR Team as needed

Qualifications

To be successful as a Sterile Processing Technician, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety standards in practice in sterile processing field
  • Preferred certification
  • Previous one-year experience in sterile processing
