Job Summary:

As a Nursing Assistant at Methodist Physicians Clinic - Diabetes & Endocrine Specialists, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our team of healthcare professionals. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing patients for examination, obtaining vital signs, and assisting providers with various tasks.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare patients for examination by reviewing medical records, weighing patients, checking vital signs, and performing medication reconciliation.
  2. Assist providers with entering laboratory and radiology orders, scheduling diagnostic tests, and making and receiving phone calls.
  3. Provide patient and family education to ensure adequate knowledge and awareness, and recommend appropriate community resources as needed.
  4. Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs, record and report patient condition to providers, and advise patients based on provider instructions.
  5. Maintain work areas to ensure healthy environmental conditions by cleaning and organizing equipment and rooms.
  6. Handle prescription renewals and inquiries to facilitate patient care, discuss questions with providers, and relay information to pharmacies.
  7. Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
  • Nurse Aide Registry at time of hire or current experience working in the capacity of a nursing assistant or enrolled in a nursing program required.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
