Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Specialist to join our team at Harmony Pointe Nursing Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all areas of the facility are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine cleaning assignments in resident living and recreational areas, including sweeping, buffing, and mopping floors, dusting and polishing furniture and equipment, and sanitizing sinks, toilets, and shower areas.
  • Replenish paper products, hand soap, and wastebasket liners as needed.
  • Remove trash and wash out trash receptacles on a regular basis.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts and utility closets in a sanitary and orderly condition.
  • Report any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair, as well as any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Wash and sanitize resident rooms after discharge.
  • May be required to strip beds and linens for washing.
  • Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.
  • Demonstrate a passion for caring and provide excellent customer service to residents, families, and visitors.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Ability to work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Work Environment:
  • Works in all areas of the facility.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
  • Communicates with the medical staff, nursing staff, and other department supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
