Electrical Engineer Professional

This is a remote position.

With an impressive legacy spanning over four decades, DLB Associates is on the hunt for a seasoned professional Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with all design staff and oversee full cycle electrical design activities.

The Electrical Engineer Professional will work as part of the Engineering Team and interact closely with organizational leadership to develop and edit project specifications and lead design development efforts.

The Electrical Engineer Professional will be self-directed on day-to-day work and independently perform most responsibilities. They will lead project teams and projects of complex scope and broader programs.

The Electrical Engineer Professional will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Electrical Engineering Design Activities (40%): Independently perform advanced engineering work, perform advanced electrical design tasks, provide direction to project engineers, utilize AutoCAD and Revit software, review and/or prepare book or sheet specifications, develop and/or review sequence of operations, develop proposals, timely and effective management of project design team.
  • Lead Construction Activities (20%): Survey existing building conditions, prepare technical reports, collect data and other information for construction documents, prepare project design and construction documents, lead the engineering team, review shop drawings and submittals, review and respond to RFIs, review and complete punchlists and project closeout documents, review and approve change order requests.
  • Manage Stakeholder Relations (20%): Responsible for execution of the firm's client value system, serve as primary client contact, assist with research for technical papers.
  • Organizational Development and Continuous Improvement of Policies and Procedures (20%): Mentor associates, assist with training and development, contribute to organizational training and standards development, may assist in the strategic planning for the group, may assist with hiring process.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of electrical topologies associated with mission critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems found in buildings including single/three phase power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and life safety systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical topologies and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of electrical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes.
  • Knowledge of technical/design software including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies, equipment sizing, underground feeder calculations and lighting calculations.
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management.
  • Skilled at producing drawings and visual aids using Revit.
  • Skilled in performing code analysis including selection of equipment, wiring, etc. to meet code requirements.
  • Skilled in performing code analysis and advanced knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace.
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information).
  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others.
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Travel/Relocation Requirements
  • Up to 10%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states.
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET accredited institution.
  • PE in related discipline.
  • Minimum of thirteen years of electrical engineering experience.
