Job Summary

The Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Hemophilia Program, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to individuals with bleeding disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the direct care of hemophilia and other bleeding disorder patients throughout the state and region.
  • Deliver and manage patient care, utilizing the nursing process, the healthcare environment, and current technology to provide a climate that optimizes patient care and staff development.
  • Perform a variety of direct patient care activities and assist with procedures to the appropriate level of training and established protocols.
  • Complete clinical assessments, deliver prescribed therapies, prior authorizations, visits to inpatients, discharge planning, professional phone triage, and administering infusions and other therapies in both the clinic and hospital setting.
  • Document all interactions in the patient's appropriate electronic medical record, perform clerical functions to support the practice as instructed, and maintain the physical environment of exam and procedure rooms, and ordering tests, labs, and prescriptions as per physician orders.
  • Serve as an active contributing member of the Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders (HTC).
Requirements
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in an outpatient clinical setting.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multi-responsibilities in outpatient / inpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of computer programs for clinical data entry.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Available for on-call duty.
  • Ability to travel to outreach clinics, trainings, patient camps, retreats, and educational programs.
  • Self-motivated individual with good organizational and communications skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse population.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
  • Registered Nurse with current Louisiana licensure by date of hire.
  • Five (5) years clinical nursing experience in either ambulatory nursing care, med-surgery, and/or pediatrics, including venipuncture experience.
