About the Facility - Minneapolis VAMC

The Minneapolis VA Medical Center is one of the VA's four polytrauma medical centers, providing specialized care for active-duty service members and Veterans with brain injuries, blindness, or amputations. The facility boasts a 65,000 square foot center dedicated to Veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders, offering a comprehensive range of primary care and specialty health services.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of diagnostic radiography exams under the direction of a physician.
  • Operate all radiographic equipment, including general diagnostic, portable, fluoroscopic, and PACS equipment.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists and/or medical officers to produce high-quality images for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and exam documentation, ensuring proper identification and explanation of procedures.
  • Execute complex physiological and radiological procedures ordered by Radiologists independently.
  • Utilize radiation techniques and protection standards for safe equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Recognize changes in patient conditions and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Perform calibrations on X-Ray equipment and operate fluoroscopic and General X-Ray equipment proficiently.
  • May be required to perform exams in the operating room, necessitating a thorough understanding of sterile technique.

Requirements:

  • Certification: All Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists must hold certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (CT) (MR).
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in skills for a General DRT, CT DRT, and MRT DRT.
  • Possess an academic degree from an accredited Radiology Educational program.
  • Maintain a current Basic Life Support certificate.
  • Have a minimum of six (6) months of experience in Diagnostic Radiology Technologies.
