Lead Architectural Historian

ECORP Consulting, Inc. is in search of a full-time Lead Architectural Historian to enhance our California cultural team.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting and supervising inventory and evaluation reports related to architectural history.
- Managing client relationships and overseeing project execution.
- Acting as the principal investigator for various architectural history projects.
- Engaging in business development activities, including responding to competitive bids and managing fieldwork.
- Conducting and supervising archival and historical research.
- Preparing assessments of architectural history impacts and developing mitigation strategies.
- Drafting technical reports in compliance with NHPA and CEQA standards, including California DPR 523 records and HABS/HAER/HALS documentation.
The Lead Architectural Historian will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including archaeologists, architectural historians, NEPA/CEQA practitioners, biologists, paleontologists, GIS specialists, and other professionals.
Additional DutiesFurther responsibilities will include:
- Serving as project manager for mid to large-scale projects, ensuring technical report quality and effective client communication.
- Exhibiting confidence in decision-making and being recognized for expertise in architectural history.
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, preparing compelling proposals, and nurturing relationships with existing clients.
- Training and mentoring staff on Section 106 and CEQA regulations pertaining to architectural history.
- Managing complex architectural history evaluations and impact assessments, along with developing effective mitigation measures for diverse local and regional projects.
Minimum qualifications include a Master of Arts degree in History, Public History, Architecture, Architectural History, or a closely related field. A preferred experience range of 8-15 years is sought. The position will be based in one of our California offices, with occasional regional travel required.
CompensationThe base full-time annual salary range for this position is $60,000-$130,000, with starting salary determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions. The position may offer part-time remote work options based on circumstances.
