Clinical Nurse Supervisor Job Description:
The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, mentoring, and leading the nursing staff during assigned shifts within a clinical environment, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the State Board of Nursing and the established Code of Ethics.
This role includes serving as the Charge Nurse, delivering both direct and indirect nursing care on the unit.Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure a seamless continuum of care for patients. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor actively participates in daily rounds with the care team to facilitate effective planning for subsequent levels of patient care.
This position also involves providing direction and support to nursing staff in organizing, coordinating, and managing patient care activities.Accountability extends to assisting in financial management, maintaining nursing standards, developing care plans, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring quality assurance within the assigned areas.
Human resource management responsibilities include overseeing staff on the assigned shift, contributing to the development of unit objectives, and ensuring their implementation.
The Clinical Nurse Supervisor also plays a key role in identifying educational needs and facilitating training within the department.Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required, with a BSN preferred.
A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Clinical Nurse is necessary, with a preference for 2 years of experience and at least 6 months in a Charge Nurse capacity.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
The ability to think critically and work both independently and collaboratively is required.
