Position Overview

+ Department: Respiratory Therapy

+ Schedule: PRN, Nights, Flexible Schedule accommodating academic commitments

This role presents an exceptional opportunity for aspiring Respiratory Therapy professionals to enhance their practical skills within a high-acuity healthcare environment. As a trainee, you will engage in a flexible night shift schedule, committing to three shifts within a six-week period. This position allows for invaluable hands-on experience across various critical care settings, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, General Wards, and specialized Burn Units.

Key Responsibilities

+ Conduct evaluations and provide care for patients experiencing respiratory challenges, adhering to the scope of practice for students.

+ Administer prescribed medications and treatments based on patient assessments, under appropriate supervision.

+ Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patient conditions effectively.

+ Educate patients regarding respiratory conditions, medications, and treatment plans.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

+ BLS Provider certification must be obtained within one month of hire or transfer date, with accepted certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

+ A Temporary Permit or Student Respiratory Care Practitioner credential from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee is required prior to employment.

Education:

+ High school diploma or equivalent, or enrollment in an accredited program specific to the discipline is required.
