We are seeking an experienced Editor to join our Content Division at Daily Kos. As an Editor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the content of our website, working closely with writers, and ensuring that our stories meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities:
  • Edit and refine articles for tone, structure, style, grammar, syntax, and punctuation, collaborating with writers to ensure all content aligns with Daily Kos' editorial mission and adheres to our Code of Ethics.
  • Verify the accuracy and integrity of information in articles, ensuring that all stories conform to editorial guidelines and are written in a clear, concise, and engaging style.
  • Format edited content in the Daily Kos CMS, working with writers to improve and strengthen their craft.
  • Identify and prevent duplicate content and plagiarism, collaborating with other editors to maintain and update Daily Kos' stylebook as needed.
  • Work cross-departmentally to write and edit newsletters that promote Daily Kos' content, helping the Newsroom find and track stories to cover.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of editing experience in a print and/or digital newsroom or similar setting.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Fluency in AP style and other editorial guidelines.
  • Knowledge of U.S. progressive politics and news.
  • Excellent news judgment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Comfortable with a virtual working environment.
  • Be tech and internet savvy, with experience using tools like Google Docs, Slack, Dropbox, and Asana.
