Role Summary: Aegis Worldwide is in search of a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our operations. This critical position is dedicated to optimizing the performance of CNC machinery, diagnosing technical challenges, and spearheading initiatives for process enhancement. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in CNC machining, particularly in lathe and mill functions, along with a proven track record in developing and refining CAM programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shop Floor Engagement: Dedicate a significant portion of your time on the shop floor, collaborating directly with machinists and addressing any operational issues.
- Documentation and Standards: Invest time in drafting procedures, establishing standards, enhancing workflows, and documenting processes.
- CAM Programming: Develop and validate CAM programs to ensure precision and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years in a machining setting is required, with a preference for candidates having 10 years of experience. Those with 5 years may also be considered.
- CNC Expertise: Demonstrated ability to produce components from the ground up and manage initial production runs.
- Troubleshooting Proficiency: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving mechanical and part-related issues.
- CNC Lathe Knowledge: Essential, with additional experience in milling being advantageous.
- CAM Software Skills: Proficient in programming CNC machines using CAM software (Esprit preferred, with Mastercam or other software acceptable).
- GD&T Knowledge: Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in a precision-driven environment.
Essential Duties:
- Machine Oversight: Ensure the seamless operation of all CNC machines and troubleshoot any arising challenges.
- Project Coordination: Oversee multiple projects concurrently, focusing on continuous and process improvement, as well as part quoting.
- Fixture Development: Design new fixtures or assess and enhance existing ones.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with machinists, programmers, junior engineers, and other departments.
- CNC Specialization: Focus on CNC operations, including programming, fixture design, and troubleshooting.
- Leadership Role: Guide new production runs and provide assistance to machinists as necessary.
- Engagement with Secondary Processes: Involve yourself with secondary processes such as heat treating, plating, painting, anodizing, or non-destructive testing (NDT).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of Secondary Processes: Knowledge of processes like heat treating, plating, painting, anodizing, or NDT.
- Comprehensive Manufacturing Insight: Experience managing the entire manufacturing workflow.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- CNC Tooling Familiarity: Understanding of CNC tooling.
- Process Enhancement Experience: Background in developing or refining manufacturing processes.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the aerospace sector.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD and ERP systems.
