Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize kennels, treatment rooms, and equipment to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the animals.
  • Feed and water animals, monitor their food intake, and report any changes to the Animal Shelter Manager.
  • Exercise animals daily, including walking and playing with them, to ensure their physical and mental well-being.
  • Monitor animal behavior and characteristics, and notify the Animal Shelter Manager or Veterinary Personnel of any changes.
  • Perform laundry and cleaning tasks, including washing, drying, and folding laundry, and cleaning dishes, toys, and litter pans.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of animals, equipment, cleaning supplies, and animal food.
  • Assist with animal adoptions, provide information to owners of lost animals, and work with transferred animals.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and one year of experience working or volunteering in an animal shelter or kennel.
  • Knowledge of animal care and feeding procedures, humane animal handling and housing, and recognizing and interpreting animal signals.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn shelter software.
  • Ability to work in an efficient manner with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Valid Texas driver's license, Class C or higher, and ability to secure and maintain a favorable background investigation.
