REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Proficient understanding of tools, materials, and methods necessary for effective floor maintenance and cleaning.
  2. Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
  3. Physical capability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, carry, and reach overhead.
  4. Experience in grounds maintenance and minor repairs.
  5. Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  6. Capability to oversee seasonal workers.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  9. Experience in supervising cleaning staff.
  10. Skill in identifying and reporting maintenance needs and supply shortages.
  11. Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and the community.
  12. Capability to work from ladders or scaffolds and move furniture and supplies as needed.
  13. Physical strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks.
JOB GOAL
To ensure a safe, appealing, and efficient environment for students and staff to learn, play, and work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Maintain cleanliness of the building and surrounding areas, including sidewalks and playgrounds.
  2. Adjust heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure comfort and efficiency.
  3. Verify that all exit doors are accessible and panic bolts function correctly during occupancy.
  4. Conduct daily cleaning of classrooms and furniture.
  5. Disinfect restrooms and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  6. Clean hallways after school and as needed throughout the day.
  7. Wash windows inside and out at least once a year, or more frequently as required.
  8. Clean chalkboards as instructed.
  9. Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as necessary.
  10. Promptly report major repair needs to the principal.
  11. Immediately inform the principal of any damage to school property.
  12. Remain on-site during designated work hours and during authorized events outside of school hours.
  13. Maintain regular attendance at work.
  14. Report any work-related injuries as required.
  15. Responsible for securing the building at the end of each school day, ensuring all doors and windows are locked and lights are turned off, except for safety lights.
  16. Keep an inventory of supplies and equipment, requesting replacements from the principal as needed.
  17. Assist in moving furniture or equipment for various activities as directed.
  18. Comply with regulations regarding the disposal of waste and maintain health and safety standards for cleaning chemicals.
  19. Adhere to established rules and regulations.
  20. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The terms of employment will align with the Board's Policy Manual and Salary Schedule for custodial positions.

EVALUATION
Performance evaluations will follow the Board's policy on evaluating support personnel.
