Legal Aid of Nebraska is seeking a dedicated Staff Attorney to join our Norfolk office. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a vital role in providing civil legal services to low-income Nebraskans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate potential cases to determine acceptance and extent of representation.
  • Formulate legal opinions and recommendations based on investigation, interviews, and legal research.
  • Represent clients in all aspects of their cases, including preparation of pleadings, research, discovery, negotiations, settlement, litigation, and appeal.
  • Educate clients regarding their legal options and the consequences of each.
Requirements
  • Admitted to and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar.
  • Present ability to manage a typical caseload involving litigation.
  • A commitment to providing legal services to low-income citizens of Nebraska.
  • Awareness of the legal problems and needs of low-income Nebraskans.
  • Ability to communicate with persons in the client community.
  • Ability to work effectively with other members of the firm.
