Job Summary

Kilgore College is seeking a highly skilled Accountant I to join our Business Office team. As a key member of our financial team, you will be responsible for providing financial support and assistance to various departments across the college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial reports, including monthly/quarterly/annual accounting, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Accounting and Reconciliation: Prepare monthly journal entries, sales tax returns, and adjusting journal entries as needed to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Inventory and Asset Management: Conduct inventory of capitalized assets and accumulated depreciation for the Annual Financial Report.
  • Student Accounts and Audits: Perform duties related to student accounts, audits, and other time-sensitive events to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Third-Party Billing and 1098Ts: Assist with generating and verifying 1098Ts and complete bank/wire transfers for various accounts as needed.
  • Training and Development: Train as backup for the accountant position and participate in process developments and implementation.
  • Team Collaboration: Serve as a productive and participatory member of the Business Office team, attending necessary conferences and seminars to remain current in the field.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in a similar position, with working knowledge of accounting principles and the functioning of an accounting system.
  • Skills: Excellent computer skills, strong skills in Excel spreadsheets, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to keep accurate, detailed records while working on multiple projects, handle high levels of stress, and maintain confidentiality.
