Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Hematology Oncology

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our team in the School of Medicine, Hematology Oncology department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biomedical sciences, with a focus on cancer biology, molecular biology, and/or genetics and genomics.

Job Summary:

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Ronald Gartenhaus, PI, to investigate the interactions between obesity, oncogenic translatome, and the tumor microenvironment. The successful candidate will design and execute research studies, prepare research reports and technical papers for publishing, and investigate the feasibility of applying various scientific principles and theories.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research studies and experiments to investigate the interactions between obesity, oncogenic translatome, and the tumor microenvironment.
  • Prepare research reports and technical papers for publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Investigate the feasibility of applying various scientific principles and theories to cancer biology.
  • Collaborate with other lab members to design and execute research studies.
  • Develop and maintain advanced animal and/or in vitro models and systems.
Requirements:
  • PhD in biomedical sciences with a strong background in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics and genomics, immunology, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with cancer mouse models strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Team player and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with western blotting, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry analysis.
