Job Summary

This is a challenging and impactful leadership opportunity to oversee the Clinical Transport department and expand resources to Carilion Community Hospitals. As a Nursing Unit Director, you will work collaboratively with the current Unit Director to provide day-to-day leadership and drive the overall success of the team and department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize, manage, and control departmental functions and resources to optimize performance and service delivery.
  • Demonstrate effective team-building and leadership skills to establish a collaborative and participative work environment.
  • Establish day-to-day priorities and direct staff task assignments to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Facilitate teams in problem-solving processes to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient experience with services to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement programs to enhance the patient experience and create a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing with a BSN degree required for Carilion Medical Center due to Magnet designation. For outlying community hospitals, a BSN degree is preferred or an ADN degree in conjunction with a related Master's degree.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit licensure and/or certification in medical or management-related discipline preferred.
  • Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting, and work competency skills. Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence.
