Job Summary

The Supervisory Blind Rehabilitation Specialist is a key member of the Blind Rehabilitation Services team, responsible for providing supervision and subject matter expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality blind and vision rehabilitation services to visually impaired Veterans and Servicemembers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Blind Rehabilitation Specialists to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Provide direct patient care and support services to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in blind and vision rehabilitation to ensure the delivery of evidence-based care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously improve patient care and services.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as blind or vision rehabilitation, special education, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in blind or vision rehabilitation, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Active certification in blind or vision rehabilitation, such as COMS, CVRT, or CLVT.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
