Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is currently in search of an Automation Technician to join our team. This position is based in the Montvale, NJ area and is a long-term contracted role that provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.


Position Overview:

The Automation Technician will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality of multiple robotic workstations. This includes tasks such as setup, programming, operation, troubleshooting, and repair to maintain the packaging production schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain robotic and packaging equipment in optimal working condition, including setup, programming, operation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Edit existing robotic programs and recipes to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and monitor equipment to identify and rectify potential errors.
  • Develop and implement solutions to prevent recurrence of equipment-related issues.
  • Enhance cycle time and throughput by continuously optimizing robot and taping equipment paths or functions.
  • Assist with the integration, startup, and debugging of packaging floor machinery.
  • Install, configure, and perform necessary hardware and software options and backups on all packaging equipment.
  • Schedule preventive and emergency maintenance tasks for packaging equipment and manage tooling orders to ensure maximum equipment performance.
  • Provide technical support to operators regarding mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic issues.

Equipment Interaction:

  • Pick and place robotic cells (Fanuc, Asyril, Quasys).
  • Manual, semi-automated, and fully automated pick and place equipment (SRM, Ismeca, Vtek, Q-corp).
  • Laser and dual pulse electrical welding equipment (Miyachi / Unitek).
  • Vacuum and shrink sealing machines.

Required Skills:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Preferred familiarity with Fanuc robot handling guides and 2D IR vision.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and opportunity identification.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities to engage with diverse internal and external groups.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and data files, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Prior experience with robotics and automation is essential.
  • Experience with mechanical parts, storage system feeders, laser welding, Keyence sensors & switches, and Numatics controls is desired.
  • Prior knowledge of PLC, HMI, and teach pendant programming is preferred.
  • Formal training in Fanuc robotics is a plus.

Education:

A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
