Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to support our team at JBSA - Lackland in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiological technology and excellent patient care skills.
Responsibilities
- Receive patients and provide appropriate care, including scheduling, reception, and procedural instructions. Determine if any patient preparation is required for special mammography procedures.
- Perform daily cleaning and warm-ups of all mammography units. Conduct quality control inspections on all mammography units and radiologist reading stations film processors.
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms, including spot compressions and magnification views when necessary. Correctly position patients and make adjustments as needed for the required examination. Set up and maintain a sterile field and assist radiologists in ultrasound and special procedures.
- Coordinate with BAMC general surgery nurse and mammography nurse to ensure referral and orders are entered into Military Health System Genesis (MHSG) for all positive biopsy cases.
- Prepare weekly biopsy schedule for mammography radiologist and staff.
Qualifications
- Degree/Education: Minimum of an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiological Technology or completion of at least 24 months of an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited Radiological Technology course.
- Certifications: ARRT Certification. Completion of Certified Operator Training on specific Prodigy/Lunar (GE) Bone Densitometer equipment within 30 days of hire.
- License: Possess and maintain an active current, valid, and unrestricted license from a US jurisdiction before practicing independently within the defined scope of practice for their specialty.
- Experience: 2 years of mammography experience within the last three years.
- CPR Certification: Possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (as accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)).
- US Citizen.
- NACI background check.
