Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Program Assistant to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Indigenous Health. The successful candidate will serve as a facilitator of a behavioral health curriculum focused on increasing economic stability of Native fathers and their families, reducing violence in rural Native communities, and increasing healthy relationships and co-parenting in Native communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate a strengths-based health promotion curriculum to groups of 8-12 Native fathers (or father figures) across 3 months in central community locations.
  • Complete training and prove proficient in the curriculum, and complete booster trainings as necessary.
  • Deliver the 12-session curriculum with fidelity and quality, working closely with the Program Coordinator.
  • Provide comprehensive case management (at least 8 visits) to participants, including meeting one-on-one with participants to provide referrals and check in on goal progress.
  • Assist with data entry, referrals, and other duties related to recruitment and consenting.
  • Represent the project in a community setting to initiate and maintain interest in the project.
  • Attend and co-facilitate Community Advisory Board meetings as necessary.
  • Assist with dissemination of project findings in annual reports, at national conferences, and in the scientific literature.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred.
  • Some related experience, with additional education may substitute for required experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and within a variety of cultures.
  • Current driver's license issued by the state of residence and good driving record required.
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays required as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dine Bizaad speaker.
  • Knowledge of community geography, culture, and traditions.
  • Consenting processes and evaluation experience.
  • General knowledge of research.
