Pediatric Speech Pathologist Job Summary

A Pediatric Speech Pathologist evaluates, plans, implements, and directs individualized speech therapy programs for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic growth and development and be able to interact with patients and staff in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and treat patients with various neurological and muscular dysfunctions
  • Develop and implement individualized speech therapy programs
  • Document patient status and progress
  • Provide patient, staff, and family education
  • Participate on multidisciplinary teams to correlate comprehensive patient care processes
Requirements:
  • Current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Tennessee by the Division of Health Related Boards
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence by ASHA
  • Recommend membership in American Speech and Hearing Association
  • CPR required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, indications and contraindications for interventions, English language, human behavior and performance, principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions
  • Ability to detect differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness, active listening, effective speaking, logic and reasoning, written communication
