Job Summary:

Praxair is seeking a skilled Cylinder Handler Driver to join our team. As a key member of our delivery team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a local route delivery vehicle to deliver compressed gas cylinders and associated products to customer locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide exceptional customer service while delivering products, including unloading and reloading cylinders

Drive a local route delivery vehicle, approximately 30% of the day, and spend the remaining time on delivery, cylinder handling, shipping orders, customer contact, and vehicle inspections

Accurately count and record product quantities and styles delivered and picked up

Complete hazardous material shipping orders and paperwork in accordance with regulations

Placard the vehicle according to hazardous material regulations and company standards

Conduct and report pre-trip and post-trip inspections

Identify and report vehicle repairs and maintenance needs

Process medical and industrial gas cylinders using established procedures

Perform visual, physical, and odor tests on cylinders before filling and determine if retesting or repairs are required

Load and unload product from the weekly shuttle truck

Operate and maintain cylinder scales and associated equipment

Prepare warehouse transfer orders and accompanying paperwork for shipment and update inventory records

Complete and maintain quality control documentation as per company and governmental procedures

Operate a forklift truck and other plant vehicles

Requirements:

High school degree or equivalent required

2 years of driving experience or completion of a truck driver training course

No preventable accidents, license suspensions, or moving violations in the past 2 years

No alcohol-related convictions within the last 10 years

Current medical examiner's certificate or ability to pass a DOT physical

Valid Class A or B CDL required

Current Hazmat certification on CDL or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

2+ years of experience in a plant or manufacturing environment preferred

Ability to read and write in English

21 years or older
