Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Roadway Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Texas Department of Transportation. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing routine transportation operations and maintenance support work, including roadway maintenance and repair, light and heavy equipment operation, and traffic control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports, and posts
  • Perform basic welding as needed
  • Operate light equipment such as front-end loaders, pneumatic rollers, and rotary brooms
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing, and minor repairs on equipment
  • Assist in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites and assist stranded motorists as required
  • Maintain highways and rights-of-way, perform roadway repairs, and erect and repair guard rails, highway markers, and signs
  • Move and pick up litter and roadway debris
  • Mow rights-of-way and picnic and rest areas, and perform plant and landscape maintenance
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of transportation operations and maintenance principles, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills. You will also need to be physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
