Overview of the Role
The Tax Compliance Analyst plays a crucial role in delivering timely and accurate tax-related support for inquiries from the organization, clients, and external CPAs. This position involves analyzing and validating data for Form 1099 client reporting and assisting in the evaluation of trust tax returns using the Tax Controls program. As a vital member of the Tax team, this role contributes to meeting tax deadlines and executing various monthly and ad-hoc projects as directed by Tax Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a tax resource for the organization and external CPAs.
- Collaborate with outsourced service providers to ensure the prompt and precise processing of 1099 forms.
- Examine data for tax processing and support Tax Leadership in reviewing Form 1099 reporting for clients.
- Provide regular updates on tax processing status to the Client Centric Team.
- Assist with inquiries regarding required minimum distributions (RMD) and general tax-related questions.
- Support Tax Leadership in the assessment of Form 1041 for trusts within defined parameters.
- Aid the Estate Settlement Team in reviewing tax returns and managing tax processing.
- Oversee the distribution of various reports and tax returns for client mailing and filing with the IRS or relevant taxing authorities.
- Engage with the IRS and state tax authorities as necessary.
- Monitor legislative changes in tax laws and regulations, communicating updates to the Client Centric Team.
- Conduct quarterly training sessions for internal client-facing team members and assist in the professional development of Tax Coordinators.
- Provide assistance with client gift processing.
Qualifications for Success
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and experience.
- At least two to three years of experience in Trust and Estate Tax.
- Experience with IRAs is essential.
- Active pursuit of CPA and/or EA certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Familiarity with trust accounting software and data warehousing is highly desirable.
- Experience with OneSource Trust Tax software is a plus.
- Demonstrated history of exceptional customer service.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective project management capabilities.
- Able to present ideas in a clear and user-friendly manner.
- Utilizes effective organizational and time management techniques.
- Strives for accuracy and pays meticulous attention to detail.
- Thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
