Pittsburgh Surgical Technologist Career Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team at UPMC Jameson. As a Weekend Full-Time Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in supporting our Operating Room. Your schedule will include working Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, as well as taking call from 7:00 PM to 6:30 AM on these days. You will also rotate between UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a minimum of 6 months of surgical technologist experience. We are currently offering new starting rates and sign-on bonuses for all full-time and part-time Surgical Technologist positions. The amount of the sign-on bonus varies based on your years of Surgical Technology experience.
Responsibilities- Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
- During surgery, efficiently pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants, holding retractors or instruments, cutting sutures, and helping count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites, and may transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical drapes.

To be eligible for this role, you must have completed a program sponsored by a nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and maintain certification or have completed an appropriate military training program. In Pennsylvania, you will need to meet specific requirements outlined in Public Health Law 2824 Chapter 292 of the Laws of 2013 and House Bill 81 enacted 10/29/2020. These requirements may include certification, education, or experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances- CPR certification based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist Surgery Certified (TSC) within 6 months of program completion.
Please note that we require Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal, Act 33 with renewal, Act 34 with renewal, and Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
Salary and BenefitsThe estimated annual salary for this role is $65,000 - $85,000, depending on experience. New graduates can expect to start at the lower end of the scale, while experienced professionals may qualify for the higher end.
