Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Newberry Plant. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of plant refrigeration and steam generation equipment, building and supporting facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general production duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment following strict safety and product quality standards.
  • Respond to plant calls relating to processing deficiencies and develop and implement solutions to return process to proper operating condition.
  • Investigate, plan, and perform maintenance work requests in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Consult with plant personnel regarding required or suggested equipment and facility repair and alteration.
  • Prepare mechanical work requests to repair equipment, building and support facilities.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions to procure needed materials for the completion of work requests.
  • Consult with vendors to procure mechanical supplies, troubleshoot equipment problems, and improve plant processes.
  • Prepare material disbursement requisitions and timecards to accurately document costs for the completion of mechanical work request.
  • Plan and complete preventative maintenance work requests.
  • Actively participate in maintenance QCDSM process and project teams.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of continuous work experience required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, algebraic and geometric math skills, and a detailed understanding of mechanical procedures as related to maintenance applications.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and perform job responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

The Maintenance Technician will work in a manufacturing environment with temperatures ranging from -30 F to 100 F and humidity levels reaching 100% during sanitation. The individual must be able to climb on, over, under or through equipment, catwalks, railings, utility runs, small access doors, etc. and work in tight spaces under or between equipment, in crawl spaces above the ceiling and inside confined spaces.

Special Job Knowledge:

Performance of job requires good verbal and written communication skills, algebraic and geometric math skills and a detailed understanding of mechanical procedures as related to maintenance applications including but not limited to: welding and mechanical power transmission, electrical power distribution and control systems, basic electronic principles, hydraulic, pneumatic controls and power distribution.
