Radiation Therapist

At UNC Health Care, we are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team in the Radiation Oncology department. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in administering radiation therapy treatments to oncology patients, working closely with our team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Administer Radiation Therapy: Administer radiation therapy in accordance with physician's instructions and the patient's treatment plan, entering data into computer systems and setting controls to operate and adjust equipment and regulate dosage.
- Assist in Treatment Planning: Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and others as necessary to prepare physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, using information about patient condition and anatomy.
- Maintain Patient Records: Maintain patient and billing records, reports, and files according to department policies and procedures, including information about radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
- Perform Radiation Therapy Treatments: Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy according to established practices and standards.
- Ensure Patient Safety: Prepare equipment and room for patient, using appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety of patients, self, and others, and perform quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines.
- Provide Clinical Instruction: Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.
- Education: Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
- Licensure/Certification: Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Board Eligible (must receive certification within one year of hire).
- Professional Experience: No prior experience required.
