Lead Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary:

A Lead Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for overseeing the instrumentation processing area, including decontamination and sterile prep. This role requires expertise in instrumentation reprocessing and infection control practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning, directing, and providing processes that directly affect patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains Quality Assurance
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviors to which staff and peers respond positively
  • Demonstrates a patient and customer-centered philosophy
  • Remains clinically excellent and focuses on developing others to assume roles
  • Successfully assumes resource role responsibility
  • Directs, supervises, and assists with the daily workload in the CSR, instrument processing, and decontamination of surgical instrumentation and equipment
  • Assists in visual inspection, assembly, and wrapping of sterile instruments prior to sterilization
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
  • Assists in determining department needs and makes recommendations for improvements, new equipment, and supplies
  • Directs and assists with cleaning and environmental surfaces and equipment to maintain function and asepsis
  • Manages department compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory and safety standards
  • Fosters a supportive attitude and teamwork
  • Assists in the daily management/operations functions related to staffing, scheduling, and materials management
  • Acts independently in the absence of the CSR Manager and Director in carrying out overall unit operations and decision-making

Requirements:

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • 1-3 Years Experience Preferred
  • High School Graduate / GED
