Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Long Island Community Hospital. As a New Grad RN, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission of delivering personalized and sensitive care to each patient, family, and visitor.

Responsibilities

Collect patient health data by involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers
Perform initial assessments based on patient presentation
Record relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment
Demonstrate awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served, as well as those patients with disabilities
Ongoing assessments are performed as established by department policy and as warranted by the patient's response
Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process
Analyze assessment data to determine problem identification, expected outcomes, and individualized patient care needs
Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes, collaborating with the patient, family, and healthcare providers
Implement the plan of care, performing patient monitoring and adapting nursing procedures to meet individual patient needs
Provide education to the patient and family, utilizing the educational assessment
Recognize hazards to patient safety and take action to maintain a safe environment
Work collaboratively with other team members to implement interventions and assign or delegate tasks as defined by the state nurse practice act and according to the knowledge and skills of the caregiver

Requirements

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two-year training at an accredited School of Nursing
Current New York State license or Permit as a Registered Professional Nurse
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families, demonstrating recognition of cultural diversity
Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format
Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems
Maintains knowledge and proficiency in the clinical area and age group served
BLS certification (AHA - American Heart Association) and de-escalation training
Ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs., push/pull more than 100 lbs., bend, squat, kneel, climb steps/ladder, and reach above shoulders
