Facilities Maintenance Journeyman

As a key member of the Utah Transit Authority's facilities team, the Facilities Maintenance Journeyman plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings, equipment, and grounds. This position requires a skilled tradesperson with expertise in electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, mechanical, construction, and plumbing work. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our facilities, installing support equipment, and performing preventive maintenance tasks. Additionally, they will operate company vehicles, trucks, vans, forklifts, lifting equipment, backhoes, snow removal equipment, and other equipment as needed.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or construction. They will be skilled in troubleshooting, installing, and repairing industrial electrical 3-phase and single-phase motor controls, as well as other general building electrical systems. Familiarity with power tools and instruments used in facilities maintenance is also essential. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, is crucial for success in this role.


Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair facilities, equipment, and grounds
  • Install support equipment and perform preventive maintenance tasks
  • Operate company vehicles, trucks, vans, forklifts, lifting equipment, backhoes, snow removal equipment, and other equipment as needed
  • Perform troubleshooting, installation, and repair of industrial electrical 3-phase and single-phase motor controls
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of supervised work experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or construction
  • Graduation from a UTA-approved trade program or completion of an apprenticeship program and obtained an electrician's or plumber's license
  • Must pass a qualifying exam
  • Must own a complete set of standard hand tools for electricians, HVAC technicians, or plumbers
  • Must be able to pass a DOT card
  • Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL driver's license by the end of the probationary period
  • Must have a valid Utah driver's license
  • Must be a safe driver with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • Cannot have any violations of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years
  • Must be able to work some overtime and holidays as needed
  • Must be proficient at a basic level in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
