As a member of the Army National Guard, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills as a Mortar Squad Specialist. In this role, you'll be responsible for setting up, loading, and firing mortars, as well as employing crew and weapons in offensive, defensive, and retrograde ground combat. You'll also operate, clean, and store automatic weapons, and employ, fire, and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate mortars in various environments
- Lead and train other Soldiers in mortar operations
- Employ and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines
- Operate and maintain automatic weapons
Requirements:
- Interest in ammunition and weaponry
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Physical and mental stamina to perform challenging tasks

- Mortar operations and tactics
- Automatic weapon maintenance and operation
- Anti-personnel and anti-tank mine employment and recovery
Earn While You Learn:
In the Army National Guard, you'll have the opportunity to earn a regular paycheck while learning valuable skills as a Mortar Squad Specialist. You'll attend 10 weeks of Basic Training and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, where you'll learn fundamental Soldiering skills and develop your expertise in mortar operations.
